Verbs are doing words. They depict an action that is taking place. Any word that is added to the verb to modify it is known as an adverb. Adjectives are added to nouns, hence they modify a noun. Verbs, adverbs, nouns, adjectives, pronouns, and determiners etc. are parts of speech. For a sentence to make sense it is necessary to use these parts of speech in a proper order.

Adverbs might be used in a different way in other languages which are not related to English. In languages spoken in Scandinavia, suffix is added to adjectives to form adverbs. There are languages in which adverbs depend upon the gender they are being used with.
